There is a provision that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year presented to the provincial assembly should be passed by mid-Ashar. However, in the Far West, that possibility is diminishing due to the controversy over the budget and the UML's proposal to cut expenses.

The government led by Chief Minister Shah is in trouble as the chances of passing the budget are decreasing.

The risk of the provincial budget going into holiday has increased. The ruling UML has taken a stand that it will not withdraw the proposal to cut spending under any circumstances. The proposal to cut spending from the opposition NCP has also been registered with the provincial assembly secretariat.

"This is the decision of our party center. The proposal to cut expenses registered in the provincial assembly secretariat cannot be withdrawn," said a UML Far-Western MP. "Even though the Chief Minister and the entire Congress are taking the stance that a budget that is not in the interest of the province must be passed, it will not succeed."

According to the MP, since this budget cannot be accepted under any circumstances, Chief Minister Shah's efforts will not be successful. It remains to be seen how Shah will move forward after returning from the capital without reaching a conclusion after seeking a solution to the budget dispute within the ruling party.

UML lawmakers say Shah has only one option: resign from office or face the provincial assembly.

The opposition party, the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), is unlikely to support the current budget. The leader of the NCP's Far Western parliamentary party, Khagraj Bhatta, has already said that he will use all his strength to defeat the government's budget.

On the other hand, leaders say that the NCP will not support the government in this budget because it has also registered a proposal to cut spending.

According to sources, there was also a discussion about forming a task force including representatives from the Congress, UML, and NCP to revise the provincial government's budget.

However, that effort failed after the UML proposed budget rewriting, advance budget, and a change in government leadership.

With Shah in crisis over the budget, the possibility of a UML and NCP forming a coalition government in the Far West has increased. In the current situation, there is also a voice within both parties that the Congress should be included and moved forward.
