Kathmandu — For the first time, an apple festival is being organized in Kathmandu to brand and present apples from the high-hill and mountainous districts of Karnali, allowing consumers in the capital to taste them easily.

The festival will be held for three days, from Bhadra 20 to 22 (early September), at Kala Ghar in Shankhamul, Kathmandu, daily from 11 AM to 6 PM, according to the organizers.

Organized by Kala Ghar in collaboration with Karnali Ghar, the festival will feature an exhibition of apples grown in Karnali and products made from apples. The exhibition will include a dozen varieties of apples produced in Karnali, such as Delicious, Royal, Golden, Gala, and Fuji.

In addition, products made from apples, such as dried apples, cider, vinegar, brandy, and other items, will also be presented, organizers said. Consumers will not only be able to see the exhibition but can also purchase apples as per their requirements and take them home.

Although Karnali apples are already well-known for their taste, this festival is being organized for the first time to formally promote their consumption in the market.
